Sutter has always had a reputation to be a hard ass. However I wonder if that is misunderstood. Grumpy when the team is losing? Which true competitive person wouldn't be? However, if you listen to what he has to say you really do get the sense that he isn't the hard nosed taskmaster that he was previously made out to be. Maybe he was but he is smart and strives for success and improvement, not just in his team and his players but himself too.

I don't think he's the same Sutter that was here in 2004 or even with LA. I think a lot of the grumpiness and snippiness is gone. I think he explains his thinking to the players and I think he has really, really good strategies that he makes into very concrete actions for the players. And I think for a player like Gaudreau, who is extremely smart, he understands that what Sutter proposes are effective actions.
