I think Johnny’s shot ended up being very tricky for him to anticipate because it stood on end, changing the trajectory of the angle in which Johnny could go bar down.
Now I’m no goalie expert, but if that puck stays flat, it’s probably way harder for Johnny to roof that from his angle, so I could see why Oettinger slumped a bit, assuming he’d try to sneak it through his arm or something.
Even so, there was barely any space for Johnny to put that, he had to go bar down to score. That’s what it was going to take to beat GOATtinger, the perfect shot which Johnny delivered in stunning fashion.
