The stumbling point on his return was that Boudreau and team had an out at the end of this past season. Boudreau wanted an extension that goes beyond the coming season before deciding and Allvin/Rutherford wanted him to coach a full 82 before deciding on an extension. I truth, I don't think the team had a choice but to bring Bruce back. The fans fell in love with him and the style he had the team play after the tentative coward's style that Green had them playing through the end of last year and the start of this year.
The OEL contract will become a nightmare eventually, that's undeniable. The team will see if it is moveable in the short term. This past season he was actually quite good. If he plays like that next season, I don't think it's going to feel that bad. But no one can deny that it's on a clock.
