Assorted peripherals (Keyboard, mouse, DVI cable for the monitor) - ~$100

TOTAL PRICE - ~$1550 CDN

You can lower the price by sacrificing for a small monitor or a lesser GFX card, but I wouldn't recommend either
He doesn't need a monitor and has peripherals already as stated. I'm changing my mind on the AMD dual core to the Intel Core 2. I took a look at some benchmarks last night and it appears superior, especially for video editing.

As for vista, he mentioned he wants to use the pc as a media center, while still using it for gaming and editing. Home Premium will do all.
