I think Shesterkin also gets the backup-stats-suck bonus.
Georgiev, although progressively worse save percentage each year, had usually provided reasonable numbers behind Lundvist. Even arguably outperforming the legend in the latter years of his career.
But now Shesterkin is out there putting up 0.935 while his backup is Georgiev was putting up sub 0.900.
Sort of like with Kiprusoff's heydays when his save percentage was 20% over McLennan or putting in McElhinney was all but guaranteed to be a loss. There could be no mistake good Kiprusoff was. You couldn't argue the system, or the defense in front of him, because of how bad the other goalies performed in comparison.
I don't think this one will be particular close. It is voted on by the GMs so it will be a more nuanced vote, but if it was like the Norris and voted on by the media I think it would be by far the biggest difference between winner and second place without doubt. Still probably will be, but Markstrom will get Treliving's vote and maybe someone like Blake given how well he performed against the Kings this year.
