It gets tricky if you want to record your satellite to your vcr. Your vcr will only be able to record SD using the SD outputs on your satellite (Either S-Video/composite or coax.) You won't be able to pass through the hd thru the vcr/dvd either. The problem is, that most of these satellite hd receivers don't have the SD and HD connections "hot" at the same time. This means you have to switch your satellite receiver to SD mode to record from it, and switch back when you want to view in HD mode. Big pain in the ass. I'm not sure about the Bell unit, so I'd test to see if this is the case. Anyway, if you want to do this, you'd hook up the Component cables and rca cables from the satellite to the TV and either the yellow composite/s-video and rca cables from the satellite to the VCR.

I think that makes sense ... I had the first half of your list down but the last part my be my issue.
I can watch a DVD or VCR tape or use the dish, so I'm set, but I can't tape.
Must be the SD/HD issue. [/b][/quote]
I just bought a Bell HD 6100 receiver and a Toshiba TV. I have the receiver hooked up to the TV with component cables [r,gr, blu,] as the DVI to HDMI cable is in the mail. The receiver is hooked up to my VCR by composite cables [r,wh,yel,] and then composite to the TV and I seem to be able to record HD and SD signals. If your VCR has S-Video use that instead of the yellow composite. Maybe the DVI cable causes issues with recording, I don't know, but you could try a component connection to the TV.
