I think it is dated and ridiculous as anything fans do....but...
I had no idea the wave was anything to do with winning or losing a game.
I mean...30 years ago or whatever and at every sport i can remember, that thing would start happening whether winning or losing as a way for fans to just be involved.
I recall it going at halftime of Stampeder games as a matter of fact.
If people consider it fun...its truly their right to do it, regardless of some "fan code" that others seem to think exists.
Its dumb, maybe even distracting for other fans (there is zero chance it has any effect on players) but unless it is disallowed by the venue, everybody paid for their tickets equally.
