So, Sam Bennett's breakout season ended up being 49 points in 71 games.
He's fine. Good, even. But we spent how much time getting all up in arms about this player?
He's fairly paid on his current contract. Not overpaid, certainly not underpaid. He's a complimentary player who plays with an edge. He also rode a ludicrous on-ice shooting percentage.
He's not the same type of player in terms of style, but Bennett's level of production next to Huberdeau reminds me of what Ryan Strome has done next to Panarin. And I don't think anyone is giving up a first-round pick for Strome.
Fine player. Fine season. Good trade for Calgary. We can thank him for Toffoli and Jarnkrok.
