If he's the best guy for the job now than he's the best guy for the job. A bad hamonic trade or UFA signings from years past shouldn't carry the same weight as what he's done lately.

Agree on all counts, but to the bolded - a big part of the POHO role should be a check/balance on franchise altering moves. Seeing as Tre's blunders were straight out of Burke's playbook of impatience, I regard those as joint blunders.
It's also notable that the big blunders have dropped significantly since Burke left - IIRC pretty much just Neal (cap space) and Ward (obviously a lot contributing factors to that mess and it's hard to say if there were actually better alternatives at the time- ultimately it cost 1 lost season)
