I am okay to admit being wrong. However, this off-season is important and I want to see how it plays out. For all we know, the Flames get swept in the first round and Gaudreau leaves in FA. The opposite can happen and I would be fine to admit I have been wrong at that time.

I've always felt the timing of the Ward hiring (so delayed) was around being the third choice behind Sutter and Laviolette.
The Flames named Ward the next day after Laviolette went to Washington.
Whether people want to admit it or not it's not just pick a great coach and boom he appears in Calgary. Guessing more than a few have taken other opportunities instead.
They finally found a legend from Alberta to make it work.
