I actually think Chucky playing so well this year helps with the Flames contract negotiations. Previously, you were worried he'd be overpaid at $9M per year, so he'd just take the $9M and bank on himself to bounce back next year. Now, you can entice him to signing a longer term contract by giving him higher than $9M.

Though if they are supertight to the cap they may have to give him the 9 for a year on the understanding he gets a good raise the following year, with additional space coming up.
