Religions are their own worst enemies.
Every theist is an "atheist" to every other religion but their own particular flavor. (eg. Christians dont believe in Islam, Islam does not believe in Judaism, pick any two flavors, etc etc).
With the advent of the internet and more and more information, not to mention education, western society is becoming secular....with one noteable exception, the USA.
Articles such as these create concern by most people and cause many who were in the holds of a particular choice to second guess themselves:

Brazilian Preachers

Proctor and Gamble = Satan

Money grubbing Pastor

Michigan church buys Pastor 40 million $ Mansion

Thats why you see us "neo-Atheists" speaking up more these days as well....and heres a good article explaining why.

Wed be better off without religion

As to Canada...we still have the Catholic schoolboard. You better believe they teach their particular brand to all who attend. Why do we allow one brand of theism to teach their choice? Why doesnt the government change it to a religious system that teaches and includes ALL faiths? What do you suppose would happen with that system? Do you think Islamics, Catholics, Buddhists, et al would live happily ever after, together in one institution?
