I think we’ll see him do just fine this post season. His usual drop off occurred post all star break where the game changes which coincided with a drastic fall off in his numbers.
Not this time around though. His production post all star break has been excellent as with his numbers against playoff teams.
Like I’ve said many times in the past, the previous lines Gaudreau was on relied heavily on run & gun which disappears in the playoffs/late in the season.
But now that he’s with Lindholm and Tkachuk, they don’t just rely on running & gunning, they check for their chances and that’s how you produce in the playoffs.
I don’t know if they’ll keep up the same 100 point paces, but as long as they can win their matchups at 5 on 5, then I’m much more optimistic for this team’s success then the failed Gaudreau-Monahan duo that basically lost every series match up from the 2015 Ducks to today. Hard to win playoff series when the top line is actually hurting the team rather than helping.
