One other thing that I'm curious about.....if the team is playing great defence in front of a goalie giving him some relief does that help when compiling statistics with starts and saves and what not? I'm not sure what I'm trying to get at but its not like we hang Marky out to dry so his miles aren't hard miles.

Interesting point - possibly true, but I'd argue that a strong defensive team should also give you more rope to play your backup more.
