They looked past his size by taking him sure ... but waiting until the second last pick of the draft isn't exactly jumping on a player with conviction.
It's like when the Wings took Datsyuk and Zetterberg late so they're drafting is second to none! No way you wait until round 7 for a superstar if you know he's a super star.
Similar with the Gaudreau pick. The Flames like him. Wanted him. And had to decide when to take him and not lose him to another club. Fourth round it is, not 7th and last pick.
Anyway ... I'm nitpicking.
