If including Zary meant a team would fully absorb Monahan's deal next year, and avoid another costly buyout for the Flames, I would do it in a heartbeat as that 6M+ hit being totally off the books (along with Brower's buyout) basically guarantees you can afford raises for Mangiapane, Gaudreau and Tkachuk and keep the window open a little longer.

Plus, when you have guys like Coronato, Pelletier, Ruzicka, Mackey, Valimaki and Wolf coming along nicely, a mediocre prospect like Zary is pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

I haven't been paying attention. Has Zary really dropped off that much?
