Toffoli actually could be a decent comparable for Mangiapane. He signed a 3yr $4.6M deal in 2017 after he had scored 31 goals with the Kings, and then the current contract for $4.25M with MTL after a couple of down years.
Mangiapane is clearly a good, but streaky goal scorer and likely will have a couple of those down years himself. He also still doesn't have a huge sample of work, which the Flames can use to their advantage.
Knowing Treliving and his signing abilities, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Flames manage to lock Mangiapane for something like 3 x $4.5M with Toffoli as an example. Every time Treliving signs an RFA I'm like "how tf did he manage that number?"
