Exactly. There are different roles to play, and good teams have players for all of them. That's the primary difference between the Flames and the Oilers, so it's pretty ironic - and laughable - that EE would be using the Oilers as his example against what he thinks is wrong with Coleman. The truth is that the Oilers are devoid of what Coleman brings.
The Flames are deep. Their top 9 is rock solid. Coleman is a key piece in that. No, he isn't Gaudreau or Mangiapane. But he is definitely an important piece.
And $4.9M is not a ton of money for a UFA of his caliber. And he isn't hurting the cap. Will he in 5 years? Maybe, but let's worry about that then.
