At the very least its a public statement letting regular Russians know they don't want to fight in Ukraine. I commend them if they succeed or not. They either get tied up in sham courts preventing their deployment, raise awareness of Putin's dirty tactics if they do get deployed, or get sent to the gulag. All of those will help stop the deaths of Ukrainian civilians.
