I doubt I'll be able to explain it to you in a way that you'd find convincing, if you hated it that much. Like I say I just think that's a shame you aren't getting out of it what other people seem to. One of the main things that Villeneuve does is create atmosphere, and once that's established he can create tension for the viewer, but if that just isn't working on your particular brain software, I'm not sure there's anything to be done about that. I mean, can you watch the border crossing scene in Sicario without feeling the hair on the back of your neck stand up?

I haven't seen it. I was going to but the buzz was that it wasn't great. I always have a list of movies I need to watch and the list always seems to grow longer rather than shorter but I'll add it and let you know.
I'm not sure where I'd put Interstellar. I thought it was something that everyone who likes movies should see, but I don't know about top 25. Then again, I've never attempted to put together a top 25 films list in any genre.
