If you receive first then the only way you are guaranteed a second possession is if you go for two and get it. The team who gets the ball second has two new advantages because of this change: the advantage of knowing the score needed and thus using all four downs to their full advantage; and, unless the team who gets the ball first goes for two, they can end the game by going for two. The team who gets the ball first can no longer end the game.
Personally would have preferred the "score 8" option, makes things far more interesting strategically.
