Many Bollywood movies have unique plots that don't follow traditional Hollywood retreads if you are looking for something different.
If you can handle subtitles, and the occasional sing/dance number, there is actually some excellent acting in the films.
For Bollywood noobs, I highly recommend checking out Aamir Khan movies to start.
