Three teams, (2014-15 Bruins, 2017-18 Panthers, 2018-19 Canadiens), achieved 96 points and missed the playoffs. All are from the East. There will not be a fourth team added to that list unless CBJ goes 13-2-1 in their last 16 games.
No team in the West has achieved 96 points and missed the playoffs. The Flames play in the West, so if they get 96 points, they will make the playoffs.
