I'm not saying Johnny won't re-sign, but it won't be because Calgary is the only game in town.
Yeah for sure teams can move players around, it’s just most of them are pretty tight to the cap with key players needing contracts

- Bruins have only 4 million in cap space and need to sign Bergeron and have money for Pastrnak next year.

- NYR have only 6 forwards signed next year and 11 million in cap space and they’ll likely want to re-sign Strome.

- NYI don’t seem competitive and I don’t think a star forward is going to fix those problems. Same goes for NJ and Philly.

- Capitals are the only team that could realistically move money around and not blow up their core. They have 8 mil in cap space and the only key piece to sign is Justin Schultz. However they’re an older team and they don’t have a lot of young talent in the lineup. It doesn’t seem smart as a long term contract.

We have 27 million dollars of cap space, which could grow to 32 million if we can offload Monahan’s contract. 32 million to get Johnny, Chucky, Mangiapane and Kylington under contract. As long as the players want to stay this should be doable.
