Yeah, I posted it in the Federal Government thread. But its still a ways away. Even when we sign a contract which is probably a ways off, we're at the bottom of the manufacturing list as Lockheed Martin has really sold a lot of these jets once they went operational and even saw combat in Israel.
I like the concept of the JAS-39E. But if Canada is looking at a 4 squadron airforce, and to have the jets around for 40 years. The F-35 just seems like a better choice, especially since the battlefield is more digital and over the horizon killing then yanking and banking.
With the cost of manufacturing dropping due to a massive influx of adoption of the F-35, and Canada's ability to see some good economic benefits to the buy, the F-35 just makes sense.
I feel bad for Saab, they are losing deals to Lockheed Martin when they go head to head with the 39E.
