I feel like we're really lucky the Devils and Flyers are rebuilding, they likely won't be a destination for him because of that. The Rangers are the only other spot near home but they're going to be in a cap crunch with only 10 million in cap space and many holes to fill. Capitals and Bruins are options too, however both those teams are dealing with cap problems as well.
Unless he really just wants to leave I think it probably makes the most sense from a career perspective to stay with the Flames.

But teams can move other players to create cap space. And the competitiveness of teams changes fairly quickly. Last year Calgary didn't look particularly competitive. The Devils in particular look like they could be much better shortly.
Calgary itself has cap problems next year, but they'll manage them.
I'm not saying Johnny won't re-sign, but it won't be because Calgary is the only game in town.
