Not necessarily… next season will be tough with Mangiapane needing a raise too but after that they have some bad contracts expiring (Monahan and Lucic make over $11m combined and their production can be replaced for much cheaper) and still have some very good bargain contracts (Lindholm, everyone on D).
It’s after those bargain guys need new deals that things could get really messy.
But yeah, this season is a really good opportunity for the Flames to get it done with this group, and they know it. Hence the trades.
