It's not likely to happen in this case, because the Knights have three players still on injured reserve who have not been placed on LTIR. One of them is Robin Lehner, who has already missed 18 days. Pacioretty has been out for 14 days. Either or both of those players could easily be put on LTIR to activate Stone, but they haven't been. I therefore conclude that Stone is not ready to go.
At the moment, the Knights are shamelessly gaming the system so they can fit a $65-million roster under an $81.5-million cap. This whole complaint is a massive nothingburger.

Show me where the NHL has their own doctors look at LTIR claims. They don't. They take the word of the team doctors.
