For inspiration I watched a 70's sci-fi "classic" a few nights ago - Silent Running. Thought it was a cool idea for a story and it certainly had a great look to it, but could've been a bit more substantial (and I personally could've done with a lot less Joan Baez). Still worth a look, though. Bruce Dern plays crazy like nobody else, and it's got one of the most beautiful opening sequences I've ever seen:
