No, as good as Ramirez is, and I believe he is actually signed this year and NEXT, I still don't do it now. I suspect the ask comes down if the Guardians fall out of it and we're down to 1 year and a bit left in the contract.
If the Jays do this right, and this is what Atkins and Shapiro have been saying all along, their next wave of prospects will be on minimum deals when the young guys on the roster are making their big money contracts and the vets are gone. Sustainable model if you can develop your prospects and then add in what you don't with veteran FA.
