The only way trading Monahan during the season makes sense is if
a) he can bring back a player of equal value in a way that helps the cap long term
b) the Flames need to make cap space for a player who is coming march 21st.
I think that option (a) is a long shot, and if a move does happen it will be option (b). A purely cap related move will wait until the off season.
