Probably a long shot, but if Tkachuk’s long term contract demands are to high, I could see something like this going down.

I am sure Tre has talked to teams about what they would give up for Tkachuk and Mangiapane, as well as other players on the team. Not because the Flames want to trade them, but because they might need to. A lot of things will depend on how they do in the playoffs
