I can't speak to the "I didn't do this" part (as a jury clearly felt he did), but the "I'm not suicidal" thing is something I'm seeing more of lately, especially among Black people going to jail. Someone sentenced to jail states publicly (generally to a camera and/or on their social media presence) that they are not suicidal, so that "in case something happens and I end up dead while in jail, you'll know that they killed me and are trying to get away with it, as I have no intention to killing myself."

My guess would be its related to the Jeffrey Epstein death and worries they'd get killed in prison and then it claimed a suicide.
