I still think the industry jumped to 4k way too quickly. It's still a struggle to run native 4k on most devices (congrats to you if you're one of the rare people who built a computer strong enough to do it!) and many games will use dynamic resolution, so the true internal resolution is usually lower for most of the game. The so-called 4k streams from most streaming services are still heavily compressed. We'll get there some day but I don't think we can say it's common yet.
1440p is still pretty great, IMO, and you can more easily hit 60 or 120 fps when you're dealing with 44% of the pixels.
