The Athletic has a take today on Freeman and the Jays.

The Blue Jays could use another big lefty bat, and Freeman is among the best. Outside of that, however, he’s an awkward fit because a guy named Vladimir Guerrero Jr. plays first base. And more than another first baseman, the club needs an impact second or third baseman. Sure, Freeman could be a DH, but in the past, the Blue Jays have preferred to spread that role around. But, we all love a good ol’ Can-Con pairing, — yes, Canada has claimed Freddie as our own — so it’s fun to imagine a future where Freeman is on the Blue Jays.

Also, Bryant.

The Blue Jays have a Semien-sized hole in their infield. Marcus Semien was one of the best players in the league last year, so he’ll be tough — if not impossible — to replace. Kris Bryant at least has MVP pedigree and his 2021 season was a nice bounce-back from his down 2020. He could fill Toronto’s vacancy at third base and also play some first base or left field. The Blue Jays typically love versatility. Bryant hits from the right side, which doesn’t help their lineup imbalance, but his career .376 on-base percentage would be a nice complement to the Blue Jays’s collection of aggressive swingers.
