I was ragging on Sutter hard for starting Markstrom last game against Montreal, since it didn't make any sense to me as I assumed he'd also be starting tonight. Then Sutter does a full reversal and starts Vladar tonight, which appeared to be a huge gamble and a double down of questionable decisions. But then Vladar pulls out a win against the best team in the league, which with so few starts this year has to be massive for his confidence. Markstrom gets the rest that he should, and the Flames keep on rolling. Assuming that this was Sutter's plan all along, this mf'er really does seem like the smartest guy in the room compared to so many previous coaches we had that only thought they were
