As difficult as that must be not to be able to get in touch with her (hard to even imagine, honestly), based on what limited communication you were able to get, it sounds like her situation has improved and she's moved to a safer location, so I think that's probably a good trade-off for the loss of contact. I know, small consolation, but to a neutral observer this actually does come off as good news.
