Has scratched and made explicit comments about Ruzicka and Dube, and Richardson and Ritchie have been scratched for a while, so they are all automatically in the dog house.
That leaves Toffoli, Monahan, Backlund, and Lewis. He has made several comments this season that Backlund needs to be better, or that he needs to continue to produce. He has made consistently positive comments on Lewis' performance. Of the two remaining, he hasn't made many public comments about their recent on-ice performance, but it's tough to imagine a coach would be picking Monahan over Toffoli.

IIRC he said “we
had 8 forwards carrying the mail” and was referring to the time before Toffoli was acquired. I’m also not sure if you can include Lucic in that list. He’s been mediocre for a fair bit lately (and I love Lucic). I’m guessing it was the top nine minus one.
Then again, Sutter is always cryptic. Was he talking scoring, suppression, effort or what?
