I've been pondering the outcomes, and while a forthcoming Cold War 2.0 or WW3 are certainly possibilities, my gut tells me that the result will be total mutiny by the Russian Military. It may take time for it to get organized, but all the factors seem to be leading to it. It won't be a public assemby of dissenting factions, but rather a surgical reversal of Moscow's influence by honourable people presently in positions of military power. Russia doesn't have the absolute indoctrination or total censorship of a place like North Korea or The Third Reich... rather their populace is well aware of the corruption and authoritarian manipulation and simply waiting for a catalyst. I believe we are about to see the second Russian Revolution. The Russian state's greatest strength - its nuclear capability - is only an asset in international diplomacy. The thought of a nuclear civil war is unfathomable, and that very fact is what will cause them to finally be ready for the Perestroika that was once promised, yet never delivered.
Or maybe that's all just the optimist in me speaking.
