Former NHLer Sean Avery is attempting a return to pro hockey at the age of 41, signing a deal with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears. The Tampa Bay Lightning's minor league affiliate announced the deal on Wednesday, adding that Avery will be placed on the team's reserve list.

Avery says he's targeting a return to the NHL despite a 10-year layoff.
"I've got seven months to be physically ready to walk on to an NHL training camp," Avery said on the "Blackballed with James Di Fiore" podcast. "My timing is coming back and it's getting sharper every single time. I can feel it happening."
