It is imperative that we sign both Gaudreau and Tkachuk, they have great chemistry and keeping our top line together should be priority #1 in the off season.
Resign priorities
-Gaudreau/Tkachuk for >10mil x 8yrs each(6mil+ in cap needed).
-Mangiapane is likely getting a double in salary (2.5mil in cap needed)
-Kylington hopefully can be signed for Zadorov money (3 mil in cap needed)
Total extra cap needed about 12mil
Easy cap gains
- 1 mil with increased cap
- 1.5 mil for Brouwer
- 2.25 mil by swaping out Zadorov for Valimaki
- 1 mil bringing in Mackie for Gudbranson
that only gets you half the way there.
So that leaves us with having to trade Monahan (6.375mil) and maybe even Dube (2.3mil) and replacing them with Petterson/Zary/Pelletier/Phillips.
Anyway you cut it if the Flames are going to resign Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Mangiapane/Kylington we are going to have to bring in a bunch of rookies or league min guys next year.
