Definitely not going to be the same team next year. So, hopefully, the Flames can win it all this playoffs. We're definitely gonna lose some really good players on the UFA market and here are my thoughts:
D-men - Tre will try and get that all sorted out first.
Gudbranson (UFA)- Sign
Zadorov (UFA)- Sign
Stone (UFA)- Gone
Kylington (RFA) - should be no problem unless there's an offer sheet elsewhere
Forwards:
Gaudreau (UFA)- Sign / Gone
Tkachuk - Sign (RFA) - unless offer sheeted (which could be a good thing).
Lewis (UFA)- Sign
Richardson (UFA)- Gone
Ritchie (UFA) - Gone
Mangiapane (RFA) - should be no problem unless he gets offer sheeted by another team
Ruzicka (RFA) - not a problem
- Others - Troy Browser $1.5M off the books finally!!!
- Monahan - traded
Didn't realize Tkachuk is an RFA - which makes things a lot better at least for next season if Flames decide to do a one year deal and have Tkachuk go UFA the next. Buys some a year's time with the Gaudreau signing, which becomes higher priority on July 1st. Also, Lucic's contract comes off the cap hit after next season. So, a one year deal for Tkachuk could possibly work out. So, if the Flames can't sign Gaudreau, they should go after Forsberg as a backup option - if he's not already signed before free agency goes into effect.
RFA's are far easier to work with for an organization - it's either they're signed or they'll be traded. It's not like a UFA where the player is gone without anything coming back. So, I'm not concerned about RFA status until the team needs to get it's cap space in check. Those can be done later after the free agency frenzy dies down.

Reason: Didn't realize Tkachuk is RFA
