Tkachuk is a type of player the Isles can use, someone that drags a team into the fight. Someone with emotion. Have not seen the Isles with emotion this year.

Barry Trotz says he's inclined to use same skaters tonight but, if he does make a change, Kyle Palmieri will go in.

I'm calling it, I've kept the criticism to individual moves ... but now, I'm just too sick and tired of the doublespeak, the scapegoating, the protection of egos over on-ice results ....

Our entire offense revolves around skating the puck behind the net and turning it over while 3 of our players are still in the neutral zone. This is the opposite of good. One might even call it bad.

The system is only good if it works. This system worked well for 3 seasons, but it clearly isn’t working now. The new lines worked for 1 game (really 1 period), but they are the opposite of what this team ought to be doing. Rolling 4 roughly equal lines worked from the time Pageau was acquired up until game 7 (well really 6) of the 2021 semifinals.

Now this team just doesn’t have enough offense to spread it around the lineup, and it really needs to stack the top 2 lines with the best offensive players (including Wahlstrom) and give them more minutes and leeway. Otherwise this team will just generally keep losing 3-1 against a decent or better team like last night.

What’s weird is that pre-Pageau and especially post-Filppula, Trotz recognized that he couldn’t just roll 4 lines. Why can’t he recognize it now?

Unwatchable. Stupid trotz will play Chara on barzals wing before wahlstrom. Wtf do you have to lose you stubborn idiot, the season is over. He just doubles down on stupid. So done with his arrogance. He got lucky one year.

I don't care how good a defensive coach trotz is his offense strat suck and is killing this team

I sure am glad Trotz put Clutterbuck on Barzal's line instead of Wahlstrom for that top tier defense where they both puck watch on some guy getting his 3rd goal of the year.

Maybe if they tried something OTHER than dump and chase the offense problem wouldn't be as pronounced. I swear it feels like I haven't seen an entry play by someone not named Barzal all season.

Warrior Mangiapane

It’s draining having these empty net chaos plays and not scoring of them. Meanwhile other side they just glide around and puck watch and it’s easy for the flames.

It’s obvious which team came out and wanted to win. These guys had tons of heart last two years. Nothing now. Age, Covid, road trip to start the years, injuries, ancient Hickey philosophy all have contributed to this but the utter lack of effort and passion is the main reason. This team just doesn’t care

Calgary is playing like we once did. They may be a handful in the playoffs.

As long as Markstrom has half an eye on a puck, nothing is going in. This is going to be a really tough uphill battle.

Lemmings finally taking off the beer goggles to take notice of the fraudulent roster Lou has put together. All those draft picks wasted and the old roster he's kept will have set us back 6-7 years. Championship teams have a look and swagger and this team has never remotely looked like a legitimate contender. Period.

Honestly I dont think this team even cares. We have seen that they CAN do it, as they have the past 3 seasons. Yes there have been a few personnel changes but nothing close to what would make a team go from a two time conference finalist to this garbage. You look at the body language and the hustle or lack thereof and I genuinely believe this group has given up. And quite frankly, people may think this is crazy, but it has to be getting close to Trotz being on the hot seat. People talk about how he gets a team to overachieve the past three years, well this team is now underachieving. You look around the league and there is no way teams like Columbus, Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim, LA, etc. have better teams on paper.
All I hear night after night are cliches and excuses from these guys.

Mangypane of course with his 24th goal and a 22% shooting percentage scoring on a ton of pass across wide open goals. Does NHL scouting even occur in relation to Calgary. Is there proof to other clubs that the Flames exist?

I mean watch the Mangypane goal. The Islanders basically conspire for him to score there. Two Islanders fail to cover him at all, one walks right by him to the guy with the puck, doesn't even think about covering Mangy or the passing lane, and the goalie moves out of the way so he can slot it into an open net. You would think this is a WWF scripted play in a scripted game. Its that bizarre.

Flames get their 4th goal thanks to an official checking an Islander. lmfao

Islanders win the faceoff clean, puck is moved to the boards for an easy out, and instead the official is standing there with puck between his skates interfering with zone exit. Calgary regains puck, pressures for a minute, until they score on a review.

Cassie Campbell saying "Oh thats a goal, oh thats a goal" despite all the initial replays not being definitive. They finally show the goalcam, which is the first angle that shows the puck under glove. Cassie campbell says. oh thats the first time we've seen that angle, for sure its a goal.

Get her off the air. She would say its a Calgary goal every freaking time.

But the ISLEs level of dig and effort in this game is non existent. Just waiting to lose adn get on a plane.
