I get that playing in the NHL is awesome, but considering he was on the verge of hanging them up a couple years ago, I don’t think he’s necessarily keen to fight people for a paltry million.
Especially if the reward is that he gets to fight people again for $1-2M.

Lucic talking about hanging them up was after a brutal 2 years in Edmonton and his poor usage by brutal former NHL coach Bill Peters. When Ward took over and later Sutter Lucic has rediscovered his love of the game. He is an overpaid but important part of the team. Complete wishful thinking that he is looking to retire next season. He is more likely to sign an extension than retire in my opinion.
I also think Lucic will be a top 9 forward for this team when the playoffs begin and will play a key role for the club
