Bit of a #### show in Edmonton, but this kind of makes sense.
The other owners have to pay Edmonton's bills until an owner is found. They are trying to protect the integrity of the league by keeping Edmonton around, while also spending as little as possible on a club that is not theirs.
By signing players and loaning them to Edmonton, they keep the player's rights while trying to put out a better product on the pitch. The idea being that a better team on the pitch hopefully draws more people to games. Which then makes Edmonton look better to potential new ownership groups, and hopefully softens the financial blow of having to cover another club's operating expenses.
Now if Cavalry can promptly loan Di Chiara to Edmonton and sign Charlie Trafford to replace him, I will be a happy man.
