The Smith signing is hilarious in every regard.
Signing him for 2 years and more than $2 million per season, like who were they bidding against for his services?
Keith was also pretty funny. A player with some name recognition wanted to go to Western Canada and that was all that mattered to them, regardless of how effective he was anymore or how much he fit a need for the team. Trade for him at any cost. It was a PR move to try and make it look like Edmonton was desirable. The same thought process probably played into signing Kane.
