I think maybe knowing the lore ruined Ep8 for you, because in isolation that was a beautiful and interesting movie. When taken in response to ESB, RoTJ and TFA it opened interesting new doors where we could have an original ending to that trilogy, it was so much more than we should have hoped for out of Star Wars. But obviously something in the lore foretold that was not to be, and in the end it was true, it was a bunch of build up just to slam us down on our faces.

In terms of the Book of Boba Who? I'm only half way through clone wars, I haven't seen all of these characters before, but can kind of tell when they are pulling them out of a different series just by the weight they give to the introduction, and it hasn't bothered me at all, I actually really love when the show knows more about a characters backstory that I do, it gives a wonderful layer of depth and texture to the story, and I can always hop on wookieepedia if I care that much.

I don't know, the problem with 8 was that it made me think that Rian was in no way a good director or Story teller.

It was ham fisted. They ruined a lot of characters in it, for example Hux went from a competent and power hungry leader to a buffoon who fell for knock knock jokes.

They killed off Snoke, which was just pointlessly stupid. Rian dumped off the rey parents storyline, making JJ being even more hamfisted in getting them back in the next movie.

I liked the idea of a disenfranchised Luke, I thought it was an interesting idea to explore.

The Force Awakens was a nice retelling of a new hope, it had some interesting characters and ideas. But episode 8 was just a train wreck of destruction, that literally forced TROS to spend most of its capital in a fans service apology in bringing back Palpatine, and JJ spending half of the movie basically saying, Episode 8 never happened.

I would bet that when they were sitting around talking about the st pre shooting TFA, that Palpatine's name never ever came up. There was no reason to bring him back especially with Kylo's message of let the past die, the Sith the Jedi all of it.

In the end we got an overpowered Jedi, we got the whooo guy in Finn who became a flat character. Poe spent a lot of time being unlikeable and then 2 dimensional in the third one. Kylo Ren was a pouty emo teenager who in the third movie took a uncontrolled flight away from his character.

The sad thing though is when you see interviews with the main cast members. Daisy, Oscar etc, they all look like they want nothing to do with the Star Wars universe. I mean John Boyego pretty much smirks when the trilogy gets mentioned and then says he's done with it all.
