Yes and no, knowing the Lore probably absolutely destroyed the Sequel for me.
I mean bringing back Palpatine and having a Cult of thousands was really anti-lore as well as the whole kill me so I can occupy your body thing. The Sith's biggest fear is of Death, its the ultimate loss of power.
I mean in the Bane Trilogy, Bane who was probably second to Sidious in power tried the idea of Essence transfer to steal his apprentices body so he could extend his life and he failed and his spirit was either destroyed or he ended up in a void of madness..
The funny thing is that the Prequels for all of their faults did a great job with established Lore and creating logical lore like the rule of two, Darth Bane, Darth Plageius and the lineage of Sith.
It made a huge mistake though, Palpatine talked about a republic that had endured a thousand years. But the Republic in Lore was 25,000 years old.
