Flores’ replies would have shown up in the notifications as “Brian Flores”. It’s not even clear reading the texts that Belichick is confused at all who he’s talking to - it almost seems like he was congratulating Flores on getting the job.
The Giants kept Belichick from a perfect season and two additional Super Bowls.
The Dolphins are a division rival, and Flores gave him fits.
Bill no doubt knew Daboll was the guy. He’s that plugged in. He saw Flores about to be humiliated as a checkbox interview candidate, and he gave his guy some ammunition that would surely embarrass a division foe (perhaps even forcing a change of ownership) and the Giants.
And none of it blows back on Belichick because he can claim he’s just an old fogey who doesn’t understand phones and TikTok.
Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.

I'm choosing to believe this because it is just fantastic. Not because of the competitive advantage, but the idea that he was trying to blow up the entire situation and maybe he knew Flores was the kind of guy who wouldn't accept this.
