So after seeing Flores say "I haven't interviewed yet" probably contacted the original text sender of the news to clarify which Brian they were referring too, and realized he had F'd up
His last message - " I double checked and mis-read the text " I read that as he misread another text saying who was named coach , not sent his string of texts to the wrong person.

I find your take on this extremely plausible as well, and I’d say it still casts Belichick in a positive light.
He left a paper trail. Bill told Flores that he was walking into a sham interview. And if he did in fact think Flores was who the Giants were going to hire, it shows he thought that was the right decision, and that in Belichick’s estimation, Flores deserved to be an NFL head coach.
